Systems Security
Security for the majority of our clients is a business critical function.
Nearly all our customers keep confidential data about their own clients.
We use the following solutions to secure our clients:
Firewalls
Cisco PIX and 800 series routers with firewall feature packs.
These devices are cost effective for small medium size enterprises,
yet have the features offered by many of the more expensive firewalls.
We however do not simply install firewalls, but through our knowledge
of our client systems, we tightly restrict what traffic can, and
cannot pass through this first line of defence.
Web filtering
Offices personnel now expect internet browsing for purposes of
business. We realise the threat to corporate systems by this facility.
To
minimise risks we use web marshal. This provides a company policy
on internet browsing, for example it can disable file download,
or filter web sites depending on content. (put picture / link from

Email filtering
Email is now considered one of the main mediums for business communication,
and is also one of the main vulnerabilities for computer virus
entry. To minimise risk and provide a more thorough email system,
we use Mailmarshal.
This provides the following features :
- Coupled with Sophos Anti virus, all emails are checked for viruses before they enter the main company server.
- Emails can be scanned for inappropriate words
- SPAM can be reduced by blocking known SPAM senders.
- All email can be archived for audit purposes.
Should a problem occur wit the main server, email will be temporarily
buffered within the mail marshal server.
Anti Virus Protection
There are a number of Anti Virus solution producers. We only use Sophos,
which unfortunately is one of the more expensive solutions, however
we have selected this product for the following reasons:

It is designed for corporate use and allows central updates and
central reporting of any incident identified.

Where Viruses have spread through the internet
very quickly, Sophos has proved to be one of the fastest providers for
updates.

When a problem does occur, for example where the Anti-Virus system
interferes with another sub-system, we have had the best support in
solving the aspect.
